Many BC parks are abound with travellers of all sizes in the summer, even those still in diapers. If your family is gearing up for your first outdoor adventure this season, here are some tips for camping in BC with infants and toddlers.

Pick a Campground with Plenty of Amenities and Activities
For a long time, your little angels will probably be enamoured with the environment—the birds, the trees, the four-legged creatures eyeing their crackers—but after a while they’ll need a change of scenery, just like at home. Find out if the BC campgrounds you’re considering have a playground, hiking trails, landmarks such as the Kettle Valley Railway, or a store nearby to get ice cream so you can keep your children smiling and on the go.

To help make your first Beaverdell family camping trip run smoothly, you’ll also want to look into access to potable water, power, laundry, full bathrooms and maybe even the Internet so you can easily send photos to grandma of baby’s first camping trip.

Pack Smart
When it comes to camping with infants and toddlers, preparation is key. Make a list, a very long list, and check it twice so you won’t ever have to say, “I wish we would have brought the...”

Some of the essentials you won’t want to forget when traveling with wee campers include plenty of extra clothes for playing and keeping warm, a playpen for sleeping and safe keeping while you set up camp or cook, a clamp-on seat for infants at the picnic table, a child carrier for hiking or even wandering around the campground, and a first aid kit.

Consider an RV rental
If roughing it isn’t quite your style but you still want your family to experience the joy of the outdoors, Beaverdell RV rentals can offer the best of both worlds. These houses on wheels offer all the amenities that can make camping with baby a breeze, including microwaves and running water for bottles, and warm, dry surfaces for changing diapers.

Plus, when you arrive at the campground, there’s no pitching a tent or assembling your outdoor kitchen, which can be tricky when you have little ones that want to be held.
